The innovative international postgraduate study program Master Online Advanced Oncology has been developed to improve and harmonize the health care of cancer patients worldwide.
The program initiated by Ulm University is tailored to oncologists as well as employees of the pharmaceutical industry working in the field of oncology.
The program offers a study concept of the highest stage:
Modulated time schedule: A timely and locally flexible learning system. The blended learning concept comprises online learning events and face-to-face seminars.
Split-role tutoring support concept: Specifically developed for participants strongly engaged in their professional life. Individual contact persons are available to answer technical, organizational and professional questions.
High scientific and clinical quality: The program is founded by international renowned experts and organizations. Top-class cooperating partners, such as the European School of Oncology, the School of Public Health at the University of North Carolina and the Center of Clinical Trials "CenTrial", enrich the competencies.
Contents of the program:
Module 1: Summer School "Challenges and Introduction": Challenges in management of patients, clinical trials and oncological therapies Module 2: Interdisciplinary Oncology: Cellular and molecular biology of cancer, diagnostics, principles of therapy, epidemiology Module 3: Clinical Research: Clinical trials, management (Clinical research), biometry, ethical aspects Module 4: Advanced Therapies: Integrated Concepts Clinical oncology, state-of-the-art therapies of cancer entities, integrated therapeutic concepts Module 5: Management Business administration, health care system, management of entities, quality control Module 6: Summer School "Future Perspectives": New techniques and future treatments, study results and their relevance
The study program starts annually with the beginning of the winter semester in October and contains six modules with a total of 65 ECTS credit points over a period of 4 semesters. It is completed with the academic degree »Master of Science«. Within the program there are six attendance seminars of five days.
ESO Fellowships: ESO is pleased to inform that one Fellowships is available to cover Tuition fees, travel and accommodation to the attendance seminars foreseen during the programme starting in October 2011.
The Ulm University will be fully independent and responsible regarding the selection of the candidates for the Master-Online; ESO Fellowships will be limited to persons fulfilling the following criteria: The fellowship applicant is eligible for enrolment in the Master-Online Program in Advanced Oncology and is coming from a low- or middle-income country; priority will be given to participants coming from the Balkans and the Caspian region. An additional motivation letter to ESO is required.
