Sarajevo, Bosnia Herzegovina
Further to the successes of the first Interconference Breast Cancer Meeting (IBCM-1) in 2007, IBCM-2 returns to bring the very latest in breast cancer research, treatment and care to the Balkan area, Central and Eastern Europe.
Building on the dialogue and interaction between clinicians, scientists, carers, advocates and patients promoted at the European Breast Cancer Conference series (EBCCs), IBCM-2 will provide yet further opportunity for all to exchange views and update on the very latest developments in breast cancer care. Within a truly multidisciplinary and multi professional setting, participants can expect a comprehensive review of cutting edge discovery from breast cancer biology and the clinic, the latest trends and developments in nursing care as well as updates on topical issues from the patient advocacy perspective. Different topics will be addressed through keyactivity_note lectures given by distinguished international speakers, Oxford style debates, educational sessions as well as the highly interactive tumour board round table at which experts and participants will discuss and debate challenging cases.
All participants are invited to present and discuss their own work in the form of poster presentations. We are confident that the combination of a rich and challenging scientific programme coupled with the captivating charm of the multicultural city of Sarajevo, will convince you to attend this exciting meeting.
On behalf of the IBCM-2 Conference Committee, I very much look forward to welcoming you to Sarajevo in April 2009.

Epitomising the cross-road between eastern and western civilizations, Sarajevo possesses a unique ambience. Neither geographically expansive nor characterised by large buildings, the city retains a particular, arresting charm with its abundance of busy café’s and abiding tradition of hospitality.
The area of Sarajevo is under influence of mid European continental climate from the North, and the Mediterranean from the South. These elements combined, as well as relief diversity, gives the area a mild continental climate.
