COURSES AND SEMINARS

Head and neck cancers

Description

Ladies and gentlemen,
belonging to hospital and practice, ENT and phoniatrics,

We are very glad to announce our sixth course in Leipzig for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the larynx and hypopharynx with special focus on oncology at 09 - 12 March 2011. After we could welcome many international guests in the past years, the prestigious European School of Oncology (ESO) showed high interest for the course and asked us to make the course available to our international colleagues. So we are pleased, that ESO became an important partner of our Leipzig Larynx/hypopharynx course.
Furthermore, the course developed to an integral part of the IRDC Academy which offers a growing spectrum of international surgical masterclass-courses in ENT and other disciplines. Thus, the Leipzig Larynx course 2011 will be even more internationally oriented, which is recognized by the exquisite internationally known speakers. It is quite clear that many questions about specific techniques are asked easier in the native language, so we want to prevent this fact. Therefore, moderation and discussion will be in German and English.

The differentiated diagnosis, diversification of operational options and interdisciplinary rehabilitation leave increasingly complex treatment decisions, particularly in head and neck oncology. For many problems there are competing or complementary surgical technical options.
Moreover, final success is mainly characterized by concepts and not only by single surgical techniques. These concepts, especially in the head - neck - Oncology are multimodal and integrate highly sophisticated surgical procedures with chemo - radio - and "targeted" therapies that require a close collaboration of the participating subjects. As another example, the phono surgery is mentioned, which can achieve without voice therapy only partial success.
The participants of the course should be made aware of reconstructive surgical techniques and learn to assess the best individual solution. For 2011, we are proud to welcome several new international speakers designated to raise the level of the course and report on the latest developments. Especially in view of the head and neck oncology, the course offers an exceptional opportunity to hear first hand views, understand and discuss controversies.

For all the technical challenge that we will offer in great abundance, we want you to know the enormous diversity of the city of Leipzig, the
city of breakup.

So, save the date. We look forward to meet you in Leipzig in 2011!
With best regards,

Prof. Dr. Andreas Dietz
Prof. Dr. Felix I. C. R. S. de Jong
Prof. Dr. Michael Fuchs
