N° 86, Summer 2019
Published under the Sharing Progress in Cancer Care initiative and edited by Alberto Costa, Cancer World explores the world of European cancer care from the perspective of the clinician, the researcher, the administrator and the patient. Through a combination of features, comment, analysis, and in-depth interviews with some of Europe's most influential oncology leaders, it explores issues related to treatment, diagnosis and prevention. It also takes a wider look at the political, financial and bureaucratic decisions that affect how far and how fast innovative therapies and technologies are adopted into mainstream practice.
The magazine's primary audience is in Europe and a monthly print-run of 16,000 copies.
Cancer Futures was ESO's first illustrated scientific magazine published every two months with Springer France as joint copyright holders. The magazine was launched to celebrate ESO's 20th anniversary. Under the motto "Education and Knowledge Through People and Facts", Cancer Futures answered the needs of many of the School's alumni, comprising interviews and reports rather than traditional scientific articles, Cancer Futures soon made a name for itself in European oncology circles and famous for its cover stories that were dedicated to leaders in the fight against cancer. The last issue of the magazine was published in Spring 2004. It has now been replaced by the Cancer World, which ESO publishes in house.
