INTRODUCTION
Although cancer is a major problem, undergraduate education on cancer medicine is still not uniform or well organized in many medical schools worldwide. It has been recognized that a complete and proper teaching portfolio should include learning on cancer control (epidemiology, prevention and screening), clinical skills, patients communications skills and palliative care.
The principle philosophy of this course is to introduce medical students to the major aspects on clinical oncology. The first day of the course is mainly dedicated to basic principles of cancer treatment, whereas the rest of the days are dealing with the diagnosis and therapeutic management of the most common tumours. The teaching is interactive with clinical case presentations and an exam every day.
Adequate educational material is provided to the students. Distinguished professors from various European and non European universities are invited to teach. The duration of the course is 5-full days.

AWARD
The participant with the highest score at the course exams will have the opportunity to be assigned an ESO Student Fellowship. The Fellowship consists in support for the recipient to spend one month training at the department of the core faculty member of his/her choice.
EUROPEAN MEDICAL STUDENTS' ASSOCIATION
EMSA is:
• An association representing students from individual medical faculties in geographical Europe
• Currently uniting over 96 medical faculties, in 24 different countries across Europe
• Politically neutral, non-governmental and independent, non-profit organisation
• Founded in 1991 in Brussels, Belgium
The European Medical Students’ Association (EMSA) seeks to improve the health and quality of care of the citizens of Europe, by acting as a conduit for increased interaction and sharing of knowledge between European medical students in the areas of medical education, ethics, science and European integration.
At the moment EMSA is working hard to produce a diverse European journal which is set to provide the highest publishing standards and up to date information to its readers. It is open to students and young doctors from all fields of medicine and related research. The journal holds a unique place in publishing European medical students' scientific articles and other papers, since the it is edited and produced by medical students for medical students. We feel that a student journal is key for medical students as future doctors or scientists, as it serves as a stepping-stone to writing, reading or peer-reviewing edition of the journal will be available at the beginning of 2014.

HOW TO REACH IOANNINA
By airplaine from Athens (50-minute flight) with Olympic or Aegean Airlines.
By boat from Ancona or Brindisi (Italy) to Igoumenitsa Port (Greece) – by bus to Ioannina (1-hour drive, 80 km).
By bus from Athens or Thessaloniki (3-hour drive, 400 km).
