Gastrointestinal Cancer

Scientific Advisor: Sarah De Dosso, CH

The Gastrointestinal Cancer Programme was implemented in 2020 by Demetris Papamichael and is now managed by Sara De Dosso, a medical oncologist in the field of gastrointestinal cancer, who works at the Oncology Institute of Southern Switzerland (IOSI) in Bellinzona, Switzerland.

Gastro intestinal cancers represent almost 1/4 of all cancers diagnosed in adults and include colorectal cancer, stomach cancer, pancreatic cancer and liver cancer. During the ESO Masterclass in Clinical Oncology, a full day is usually devoted to these tumours.

The ESO Gastrointestinal Cancer programme organises a gastrointestinal observatory at the ESMO GI conference held in Barcelona every year. The observatory concentrates on providing a forecast on what will be relevant in GI over the coming 12 months ahead.
