1. Breast Cancer - Breast Unit Clinical Training

Before accepting, please note that candidates will be interviewed in French. Therefore, a minimum intermediate level of French is required.

Programme description:

The portfolio of our Certified Breast Unit comprises breast diagnostics, breast conserving surgery, reconstructive surgery, intra-operative radiotherapy, neo-adjuvant and adjuvant systemic treatment as well as all aspects of treatment for advanced breast cancer. During your 3–6 month observership, the program will encompass all aspects of caring for breast cancer patients. The main component will be clinical, through participation in consultations and multidisciplinary team meetings. Additionally, opportunities to visit and observe our state-of-the-art departments (including radiotherapy, nuclear medicine, imaging, and palliative care) will be available. You will improve your understanding of the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer, during weekly multidisciplinary meetings with our radiation oncologists, medical oncologists, breast surgeons, pathologists and breast cancer nurses. The team is dedicated to achieving the best outcomes for its patients in the panel of available options of diagnosis and treatment. Special emphasis is placed on trying to ensure the very best standard of care, while in parallel respecting patients’ preferences and pertaining to high quality of patient’s life.

2. Gastro-intestinal cancer and GIST

Programme description: 

The gastrointestinal cancer observership program offers a unique opportunity for medical professionals to immerse themselves in the dynamic field of GI oncology. We offer training in a multidisciplinary environment, rotation through clinical departments, including medical oncology, radiation oncology, nuclear medicine, and palliative care.  You will gain experience in the multidisciplinary evaluation and management of GI cancer patients and provide specific training regarding GIST management.  In addition, attendees will be able to see the organisation and functioning of our multidisciplinary tumorboards and to experience the clinical and administrative patient management.

3. Radio-Oncology Centre

Programme description: 

The Genolier Radio-Oncology Centre provides curative and palliative radiation therapy to patients based on a multidisciplinary approach, following international guidelines and research protocols, for most types of tumors, including gynaecological (breast, uterus, cervix), urological (prostate, bladder, kidney, testicle), digestive (oesophagus, stomach, rectum, anal canal), ENT, lung, neurological, and skin tumors. It includes intraoperative radiotherapy treatments, particularly for localised breast cancers. During your 3 month observership, the program will enable you to know the indications, preparation, treatment process, side effects and complications, and expose you to the following activities:

  • participation to the multidisciplinary tumor board,
  • selection and delineation of organs at risk and target volumes
  • dose prescription
  • management of acute toxicities

You will integrate a specialised medical-technical team that is attentive to the needs of each patient and places absolute priority on their safety and well-being, offering them targeted radio-oncology treatments of the highest quality, with a state-of-the-art technical platform.
