Hospital overview

Institut Gustave Roussy is one of the leading anti-cancer centres in Europe. Based at the Paris city gates, it is a hub of global expertise united against cancer and dedicated entirely to patients. On a single campus, it brings together more than 2.100 professionals who treat patients with all kinds of cancer, do research into and assess new treatments against cancer, and share the knowledge they have acquired with students.
In addition to bringing together treatment, research and teaching in an integrated environment, the Institut has distinguished itself through innovative organisation and positioning.

Visiting Residency is only available for EU residents with French skills at Institute Gustave Roussy.

CTC programmes offered

1. Gynecologic oncology: epithelial ovarian tumors and nonepithelial rare ovarian tumors, uterine carcinoma, uterine sarcoma, cervical and vaginal tumors

2. Radiation oncology: solid tumor and hematologic malignancy

Programme description:

Patients: Adult and children

Specific radiation oncology courses dedicated to fellows 4 hour/months
Patient care :  radiotherapy (10 linacs including stereotactic and IMRT: Cybeknife, Novalis, Tomotherapy, VERSA..), brachyerapy (6PDR beds, HDR) and hospitalisation (24 beds) units.
4200 patients /year
Local tumor board (4h/w), regional virtual tumor boards, specific working sessions (2h/week), bibliography, publications

3. Breast oncology: from prevention and diagnosis to full treatment at all stages, including all modalities; molecular medicine, therapeutic development

Patient care : 2000 new patients/year (1200 breast cancers), outpatient clinics and care

4. Dermato-oncology: melanomas and carcinomas (squamous cell carcinomas, basal cell carcinomas, Merkel cell carcinomas)

Programme description:

Patients : Adults mostly

Specific dermato-oncology courses dedicated to fellows once a month.
Patient care:  more than 17 000 consultations and 4000 acts of surgery each year. Day care hospital (clinical trials, immunotherapy and chemotherapy). Around 20 beds of hospitalization in the Department of Medical Oncology or in Surgery Department. Translational research in U981 research team on resistance mechanisms.

Local tumor board twice a week. Bibliography sessions.

5. Genito-urinary cancer: Prostate cancer, urothelial cancer, Kidney cancer, testis cancer, penile tumor

Tumor board once a week. Bibliography sessions.

6. Department of phase 1 clinical trials.

Patients: Adult patients with advanced cancer referred for phase 1 trials or molecular screening

Specific phase 1 trials courses dedicated to fellows 1hour/week
Patient care : 17 beds, day care hospital (16 beds)

Around 400-500 new patients /year enrolled in phase 1 trials, 500 patients enrolled in molecular screening

Local tumor board (2h/w),  specific working sessions (2h/week), bibliography

7. Thoracic tumors
