St. Vincent's University Hospital is a major academic teaching hospital. We provide a front line emergency service and national/regional medical care at inpatient and outpatient level. | Programme description: | In total, 550 new breast cancer per year are treated, with approximately 40% of these coming through the National Cancer Screening Service. It provides the full complement of care for these patients, including primary breast reconstruction, genetic testing where indicated and other specialist services. |

| Programme description: | Approximately 300 colorectal cancer patients are seen each year across St. Vincent’s Hospital Campus. The vast majority of surgery is laparoscopic and this Campus has also been nominated as a Specialist Centre for the National Colorectal Screening Programme, which starts in 2012. |

| Programme description: | St. Vincent’s University Hospital is the only National Centre in Ireland for pancreatic cancer. As such, therefore, it provides the full range of multidisciplinary care involved in the management of patients presenting with pancreatic cancer and trainees will also be exposed to liver resection as part of working in this unit. A total of 290 pancreatic cancers were seen in 2010, over 100 pancreatic resections were carried out and a similar number of hepatic resections were performed in this time period. |

| Programme description: | St. Vincent’s University Hospital is one of the eight cancer centres in Ireland looking after urological cancers including prostate cancer and it, combined with the University College Dublin affiliated Mater Hospital, sees the majority of prostate cancers in Ireland. |
