The Refresher Course on Breast Cancer has been designed for medical and clinical oncologists who have attended a previous edition of the Eastern Europe and Balkan Region Masterclass in Medical/Clinical Oncology and other practicing oncologists of the region with the aim to provide an update on the state-of-the-art therapeutic options as well as an overview of the latest advances in the field of breast cancer.
The programme will offer educational lectures covering updates on the diagnosis and treatment of both early and advanced breast cancer. Moreover, spotlight lectures will discuss specific issues related to particular situations such as breast cancer in young women or survivorship issues.
Practical training will be offered in the frame of clinical case presentations, prepared and presented by participants and discussed with the faculty.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
• Update on the latest advances in diagnostic procedures
• Update on the latest advances and on the state-of- the-art treatment options
• Learn about the management of specific situations
• Debate controversies and challenges in breast cancer treatment
• Improve practical skills in multidisciplinary management and follow-up of breast cancer patients
• Receive insights on the best approaches in organizing breast cancer care (breast cancer units)

CME ACCREDITATION
An application has been made to the UEMS EACCME® for CME accreditation of this event. The EACCME is an institution of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS), www.uems.net
Each medical specialist should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.

• Update on standard and new diagnostic, treatment options and approaches
• Signalling pathways
• Breast cancer pathology and molecular biology
• Systemic treatment of early and advanced breast cancer

PARTICIPATION
Attendance is limited to 30 participants and admittance is by competitive application only. Priority will be given to applicants who have attended a previous Eastern Europe and Balkan Region Masterclass and or those practicing in this region.

Each past masterclass participant will be able to invite one colleague to apply, and further interested medical/clinical oncologists will be able to apply too.

Applicants who have not attended a previous Eastern Europe and Balkan Region Masterclass in Medical/Clinical Oncology should meet the following profile:
• Age between 30 and 45 years
• At least 2-3 years’ experience in medical oncology
• Fluency in English
• Practicing in Eastern Europe and Balkan Region

Successful applicants are granted free registration.

Accommodation at the course venue for arrival on 23 September and departure on 25 September will be provided to participants not residing in the Bratislava area.

ESCO

Being selected to take part in an ESO Refresher course is one of the ESO activities that gives participants eligibility to enrol in ESCO - the College of the European School of Oncology.

A Refresher also enables ESCO members to earn ESCO credits and therefore access more ESCO benefits. Full and active participation in the Refresher earns participants 9 ESCO credits.

Abstract

If a candidate is not a past participant of a previous Eastern Europe and Balkan Region Masterclass, the following documents should also be provided together with application template and abstract:

• Letter describing motivation for attending
• Short CV (template here) with the list of publications (if the list of publication is not
provided, it will be assumed that no articles have been published)

ABSTRACT

Applicants are requested to submit an abstract describing a clinical case related to breast cancer. Some admitted participants will have the opportunity to present the clinical case in the format of a clinical grand round discussion to the chairs, other faculty members and participants within plenary tumour board sessions in the programme. The application outcome will be notified by e-mail by end of June.
