The majority of ESO activities are free but some require participants to cover the cost of their travel/accommodation and others require a small registration fee or admission fee.
ESO is committed to providing top quality education to as many people as possible; we recognize that everyone’s situation is different and would like to ensure that cost is not a barrier.
The Domietta Del Drago fellowship fund was established in January 2020 in her memory and has the scope
of providing financial aid to doctors and nurses who have successfully passed the selection process for one of ESO’s educational programmes, but have difficulties in covering the cost of their participation.

In 1982 Umberto Veronesi, a visionary in cancer care and treatment, alongside Princess Laudomia (Domietta) Del Drago, a distinguished member of the Roman aristocracy and a breast cancer survivor, founded The European School of Oncology. They believed through increasing access to oncology education, cancer could not just be diagnosed sooner but treatment could improve, and in turn reduce the number of deaths.
Del Drago passionately supported ESO throughout her life, she gave the School its first (in a long series!) of donations regularly engaged with the School as the President of the Board of Directors. When she passed away in 2019 she asked her daughter, Donella, to ensure their family continued its financial commitment to the European School of Oncology.
Today, ESO is the one of the most established organisations exclusively dedicated to increasing the knowledge of health professionals in all fields of cancer medicine with the support of an international scientific committee and advisory board.
The Domietta Del Drago Fellowship Fund was established in her memory in January 2020 to help eliminate financial barriers for students all over Europe. The Fund provides financial aid to doctors and nurses who have successfully passed the selection process for one of ESO’s educational programmes but may have difficulties covering the cost of participation.
Priority for financial aid will be given to participants in the Clinical Masterclasses in Oncology.
