Description
Aims and objectives of the course
This course will focus on genetics, biology, pathology, staging and current optimal treatment strategies in paediatric oncology. In addition the role of haematopoietic stem cell transplantation in leukaemia and solid tumour will be presented. Specific aspects of this approach such as T-cell depletion, graft engineering haploidentical transplantation and graft versus tumour will be reported and discussed. A teaching session will be devoted to methodological, ethical and clinical aspects related to the development of new antineoplastic agents in children.
Lectures and case discussions will be presented by EU and Russian experts in the field.
The structure and the content of the lectures will refer to the syllabus for training in pediatric haematology and oncology issued by the Educational and Training Committee of SIOP Europe.
