The Refresher Course on Lung Cancer is designed for medical and clinical oncologists of the Eastern Europe Region in order to provide an update on the state-of-the-art therapeutic options as well as an overview of the latest advances in the field of lung cancer.

The programme will offer educational lectures covering updates and future directions in diagnostic and treatment approaches in lung cancer; while real life case discussions will provide an ideal opportunity for multidisciplinary discussion. By presenting real life cases young oncologist will get an ideal opportunity to learn on how to best present and discuss their cases.


• Update on pathology and molecular testing in lung cancer
• Update on the latest advances in diagnostic procedures
• Update on the latest advances in targeted therapy and immunotherapy for lung cancer
• Update on modern surgical and radiation therapy approaches in lung cancer
• Get acquainted and put into perspective the latest guidelines
• Learn about the management of specific situations on lung cancer
• Debate controversies and challenges in lung cancer treatment
• Improve practical skills in multidisciplinary discussion and management of lung cancer patients



The official language will be English. No translation will be available.


The Refresher course on Lung Cancer will be accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME) to provide the following CME activity for medical specialists. The EACCME is an institution of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS), www.uems.net
Each medical specialist should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.


Attendance is limited to 30 participants and admittance is by competitive application only. Priority will be given to applicants who have attended a previous Eastern Europe and Balkan Region Masterclass and or those practicing in this region.

Each past masterclass participant will be able to invite one colleague to apply, and further interested medical/clinical oncologists will be able to apply too.

Applicants who have not attended a previous Eastern European Region Masterclass in Medical/Clinical Oncology should meet the following profile:

  • Age between 30 and 45 years
  • At least 2-3 years’ experience in medical oncology
  • Fluency in English
  • Practicing in Eastern Europe and Balkan Region

Successful applicants are granted free registration.

Accommodation at the course venue for arrival on 22 April and departure on 24 April will be provided to participants not residing in the Vodice area.

If a candidate is not a past participant of a previous Eastern European Region Masterclass, the following documents should also be provided together with application template and abstract:

  • Letter describing motivation for attending
  • Short CV (template provided) with the list of publications (if the list of publication is not
    provided, it will be assumed that no articles have been published)


Applicants are requested to submit an abstract describing a clinical case related to lung cancer. Some admitted participants will have the opportunity to present the clinical case in the format of a clinical grand round discussion to the chairs, other faculty members and participants within plenary tumour board sessions in the programme. The application outcome will be notified by e-mail by the end of February.
