Course Scientific Leadership
M. Kukhalashvili, G
A. Eniu, RO/C - ESO College Chair
The European School of Oncology (ESO) in collaboration with VIAN JSC and supported by the Georgian Ministry of Health, is proud to present a personalized Basic Principles in Oncology course tailored specifically for Georgian oncology residents. This course is designed to provide a comprehensive orientation to the guiding principles of multidisciplinary oncological management and complement the training provided to oncology residents in Georgia.
Oncology practice encompasses unique challenges to foster multidisciplinary with other branches of medicine. The sub-specialization in oncology has limited the exposure of junior residents to essential oncological concepts and practices. New oncology trainees face specific hurdles, including navigating an extensive curriculum without a clear starting point, adapting to a rapidly evolving clinical landscape, and managing increasing clinical demands. During their training, residents must strategically plan their careers, balance academic focus, and maintain a healthy work-life balance.
Learning Objectives
- Update on basic principles of cancer etiology and epidemiology
- Update on basic cancer genetics, staging and imaging
- Update on basic principles of surgical oncology and pathology
