Asklepios Tumorzentrum

The Asklepios Tumorzentrum Hamburg (ATZHH) is a public service network cancer centre in Hamburg, Europe´s 7th largest city, with a catchment area of more than 2.5 million habitants. Clinically, it comprises seven full-spectrum hospitals (ranging from 250 to 700 beds, with outpatient clinics), and 4 specialized cancer care outpatient facilities. All together, more than 200 cancer specialists (all disciplines included) and the multi-disciplinary teams serve more than 15,000 newly diagnosed cancer patients per year.

The multi-site structure is organized in 14 tumour-specific Disease Tracks (DTs). The multidisciplinary DTs also work in a cross-locational structure, with a concept of dedicated units at several sites. DTs are responsible for organization of the clinical services, interdisciplinary tumour boards, clinical research programmes, education and training, as well as research activities.

Joint activities include programmes in prevention, follow-up care and rehabilitation, as well as dedicated education activities for students, physicians (pre- and post-specialization training) and nurses.

The ATZHH and the member hospitals are dedicated training centres of the University of Hamburg and Asklepios Medical School (AMS), Campus Hamburg of the Semmelweis University, Budapest.

Participants will be given the opportunity to participate as observer or resident in 3 programmes, each with activities at 2 different sites in Hamburg, to provide a full spectrum and variety of experience.
