Programme description

St Vincent’s University Hospital is a centre of excellence for breast cancer management. It is a high volume centre seeing almost 1000 patients per year across the campus. The service includes daily clinics and theatre, as well as twice weekly general breast MDTs. In addition there is a twice monthly oncoplastic MDT which alternates with a research meeting. Oncoplastic and reconstructive surgery features significantly including mammoplasties, chest wall perforator flaps, implants and free flaps. The applying candidate should have experience in history taking and examining in breast clinic, and be able to formulate management plans. They should be proficient in basic breast procedures including wide local excision, simple mastectomy and sentinel lymph node biopsy. They should have undertaken audits and research ideally in the field of breast surgery. They should demonstrate experience in teaching.
