Course Overview
This course aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the latest diagnostic and therapeutic approaches in the management of breast cancer.
It is designed to enhance multidisciplinary collaboration among medical, surgical, and radiation oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, and other specialists involved in breast cancer care, supporting accurate diagnosis, staging, and the development of personalised treatment strategies.
Participants will explore recent advances in breast imaging, pathology and molecular profiling, surgical techniques, systemic therapies, and radiotherapy. Particular attention will be given to evidence-based treatment selection across different disease stages, with a focus on delivering timely, targeted, and effective interventions.
In addition, the course will address specific clinical scenarios such as breast cancer in very young and pregnant women, fertility preservation, survivorship, and quality of life. Practical training will be provided through selected clinical cases presented by participants and discussed in a multidisciplinary Tumor Board setting. By integrating case-based learning with current guidelines, the course promotes a patient-centred approach, emphasising shared decision-making and long-term follow-up.
Ultimately, this programme seeks to empower physicians to optimise patient outcomes, reduce recurrence rates, and improve survival and quality of life.
The course is intended for all physicians involved in the management of breast cancer, including medical, surgical, and radiation oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals engaged in breast cancer care.
Learning Objectives
Participants will:
-
Gain an updated understanding of the epidemiology and clinical burden of breast cancer, with attention to current challenges in diagnosis and management.
-
Refresh and expand knowledge of state-of-the-art diagnostic procedures, including breast imaging (with a focus on response assessment), pathology and response evaluation after neoadjuvant therapy (NAT), molecular genetics, and personalised medicine.
-
Learn best practices for accurate diagnosis, staging, and response assessment, including the role of MRI, PET/CT, skin biopsy, and emerging technologies.
-
Review recent advances in local treatment, including breast cancer surgery and radiotherapy, and understand evolving paradigms and de-escalation strategies.
-
Explore current standards and innovations in systemic therapy for early and metastatic breast cancer, including neoadjuvant and post-neoadjuvant treatments, dose-dense regimens, treatment sequencing in triple-negative and luminal disease, and the management of oligometastatic disease.
-
Understand the management of specific clinical situations, such as breast cancer in pregnant and very young women, fertility preservation, and survivorship and quality-of-life issues.
-
Debate key controversies and unmet needs in breast cancer care, including response evaluation after NAT, the extent of surgery in mutation-related disease and axillary management, the role of surgery in metastatic settings, and strategies for escalation and de-escalation of systemic therapy, surgery, and radiotherapy.
-
Improve practical skills in multidisciplinary decision-making, treatment planning, and follow-up through tumour board discussions based on selected clinical cases.
-
Receive insights into the optimal organisation of breast cancer care, with a focus on breast cancer units, certification, and accreditation processes.
Language
The course will be held in English.
No translation will be provided.
Reservation Fee
The top 30 applicants will receive a place with accommodation with a reservation fee of €160.

The fee is a non-refundable contribution towards organisational costs and will not be reimbursed in the case of withdrawal or non-attendance, regardless of the reason.
CME Accreditation
This course has been accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME)* to provide a maximum of 11 European CME credits (ECMEC®s) for medical specialists.
Each medical specialist should claim only those credits that they actually spent in the educational activity.
Through an agreement between the European Union of Medical Specialists and the American Medical Association, physicians may convert EACCME® credits to an equivalent number of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.
Information on the process to convert EACCME® credits to AMA credits can be found here.
Live educational activities occurring outside of Canada, recognised by the UEMS-EACCME® for ECMEC® credits are deemed to be Accredited Group Learning Activities (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
*The EACCME is an institution of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS), www.uems.net.
It has been accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME®)
