Programme description
We propose a 3 to 6 months clinical fellowship in the Medical Oncology Department of the Centre Antoine Lacassagne (CAL), under the mentorship of Dr Fatima Cardoso.
All breast cancer patients are discussed at multidisciplinary meetings at different stages of their treatment pathway. The multidisciplinary tumour boards are held every week. The multidisciplinary meetings are attended by breast medical oncologists, breast surgeons, breast radiation oncologists, breast radiologists, breast pathologists and nuclear medicine specialists.
The team at the CAL is committed to achieving the best outcomes for patients, including in survival and quality of life, by implementing the best standard of care, according to evidence-based and guideline-approved recommendations.
Centre Antoine Lacassagne is an active member of UNICANCER and several clinical trials, of all phases, including phase 1, are available and are regularly proposed to breast cancer patients. Additionally, translational research projects and multicentric academic research projects are ongoing. Fellows will have the opportunity to contribute to the research portfolio with their individual projects and /or participating in ongoing clinical or translational projects.
The PACA-East Molecular Tumour Board (RCPE Moléculaire), operational since 2016, reviews patients with advanced malignancies — including head and neck cancers — to identify actionable molecular alterations and guide enrolment into matched targeted therapy trials. Molecular analyses are performed at the PACA-Est Cancer Molecular Genetics Platform and through the national ultra-high-throughput sequencing programme AURAGEN. The database currently encompasses molecular and clinical profiles of more than 3,600 patients. Fellows are expected to attend RCPE sessions relevant to breast oncology.
It is expected, albeit not mandatory, that the work developed leads to published abstracts and papers.
